The pictures below are from March 2007. It was the first time I literally "blew" an engine up with parts flying out! I believe a rod broke first that sent a chain reaction through everything else. It even bent the girdle that was installed on the engine! OUCH!

The cam, heads and oil pan survived. The crank was badly beaten up but not broke....thanks to the girdle! It was a 3.8L that made 580HP at the wheels with stock crank and rods.

     

       

 

Modifications

This cracked piston was caused by an extreme engine backfire at 30psi of boost! The car was running mid to high 6's in the 8th mile.

 

Modifications

This broken axle happened while I was brake boosting the car sitting in my driveway....on dirt! I had the e-brake pushed down and was testing how well that held while I was boosting the engine. Needless to say it held just fine up to 19psi; that's when the axle went SNAP!
